About School for Friends
School for Friends is a preschool offering educational programs for two through four year olds - a full-day program for three and four year olds and both full- and half-day programs for two-year-olds, five days a week. The School is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. year-round and is closed all federal holidays and one week in August for staff development.
The School is located near Dupont Circle in the Church of the Pilgrims near Metro, bus lines, and the Connecticut, Florida, and Massachusetts Avenue commuting routes. The School is close to activities that offer learning potential -- shops, ethnic restaurants, parks, galleries, a library, and parents' workplaces.
Classrooms and Facilities
All classrooms are bright and well equipped and adjoin secure and beautiful playgrounds with "playscapes" at both locations.
Classroom groupings are flexible: classrooms may be comprised of children of different ages. There are 8-12 children in the toddler classrooms and 12-20 in the preschool classrooms. Children play in small groups.
During the summer, the schedule is more relaxed and includes more outdoor activities as well as time at the local public pool.
Children bring their own lunches from home. The School provides nutritious low-sugar, low-salt snacks, in the morning and afternoon.
Accreditation
School for Friends' program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
