Employment

School for Friends provides a loving, caring, and supportive educational environment for 55 children aged two through four years. We are committed to creating a diverse community of children and families. The curriculum reflects the Quaker values of cooperation, equality, and nonviolence. We encourage all aspects of a child’s development – social, emotional, physical, and cognitive – in a setting that is safe, warm, and cheerful. We help the children develop positive self-concepts and understand others from different cultural and economic backgrounds. We are committed to the inclusion of children with special needs. We are open from 8:15 am to 5:45 PM, Monday through Friday, year round.

We offer competitive salary and benefits and provide teachers with a friendly work environment and opportunities to gain new skills and advance their personal career goals. We are proud member of the Friends Council on Education. We are licensed by the District of Columbia as a community-based organization and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). We follow the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct. We have received numerous awards and recognitions in our nearly 40-year history. Our most recent achievement was earning the “Engaging Diverse Families Exemplary Early Childhood Education Program 2010” award from NAEYC. You may have what it takes to join our team.
